PARIS, February 27, 2018 – Today, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company Robert A. Iger announced plans for a 2 billion euro, multi-year expansion for Disneyland Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palais de l’Elysée in Paris.  The new development will include a transformation of the Walt Disney Studios Park, adding three new areas that are based on Marvel, Frozen and Star Wars, along with multiple new attractions and live entertainment experiences.

The expansion plan is one of the most ambitious development projects at Disneyland Paris since its opening in 1992 and underscores the Company’s commitment to the long-term success of the resort as Disney’s brand beacon in Europe.

“We’re very excited about the future of Disneyland Paris and continue to invest in its long-term success,” said Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company.  “The resort is already the leading tourist destination in Europe, and the transformative expansion we announced today will add even more of our beloved characters and unparalleled storytelling to create new lands, attractions and entertainment that further elevate the guest experience and drive new opportunities for tourism in this dynamic region.”

The new areas will infuse some of Disney’s most popular stories and characters into this unique destination, building upon the success of the resort’s 25th Anniversary celebration and continuing to enhance the guest experience for millions of Europeans.

With over 320 million visits since 1992 and representing 6.2 percent of France’s tourism income, Disneyland Paris has played a key leadership role in tourism for the region. The resort continues to be a powerful driver of economic and social development with over 16,000 employees representing 100 nationalities.  This investment will help make the region even more dynamic and appealing and open up more opportunities for French and European citizens in the tourism industry.

The multi-year development will roll out in phases beginning in 2021, significantly expanding the Walt Disney Studios Park.  In addition to the three new areas, the creative vision includes a new lake, which will be the focal point for entertainment experiences and will also connect each of the new park areas.

In the spring of 2017, Disneyland Paris kicked off its 25th Anniversary celebration including new entertainment and experiences for guests.  The resort also completed a two-year refurbishment program, updating and renovating many of the classic attractions in the parks, as well as opening multiple new entertainment shows such as Mickey and the Magician, which won a 2017 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions theme park industry award for “Best Theatrical Production.”  Additionally, several major renovations took place at the resort’s hotels including Disney’s Newport Bay Club, which is now a four-star hotel.

Just this month, Disneyland Paris announced plans for a new Marvel-themed attraction that will be coming to the Walt Disney Studios, part of the new Marvel area development.  In 2020, the resort will open Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, a reimagining of Disney’s Hotel New York that will showcase the inspiring worlds of Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider-Man, among others. And this summer, the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes seasonal event will take place at Disneyland Paris, where guests can meet their favourite heroes and experience new live entertainment.

After having announced the expansion plan for Walt Disney Studios Park with the addition of three new themed areas for Marvel, Frozen and Star Wars, Disneyland Paris is going to enrich its entertainment and experiences offerings by celebrating Mickey 90 Mouse Party, add shows to its Halloween and Christmas seasons and enhancing a classic attraction.

With the success of Mickey and the Magician, the Season of the Force and the imminent arrival of the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes, Disneyland Paris now has even more entertainment in store.

It’s been 90 years since Mickey brought happiness to the world in Steamboat Willie. So, to celebrate, he’s throwing the World’s Biggest Mouse Party from October to December 2018. Disneyland Paris will offer more than 90 days of Mickey fun.

" alt="" width="900" height="600" />

In October, Mickey’s Halloween Celebration Cavalcade will hit the streets of Disneyland Paris again with a brand new float, and the Disney Villains will be taking over the Castle Stage. There will be ghosts, lanterns, pumpkins and decorations everywhere throughout Disneyland Paris, from Main Street, U.S.A., to Frontierland and Fantasyland during the whole Halloween season.

Disney Enchanted Christmas will be back with the shows that were popular in 2017: the nighttime spectacular with Goofy’s Incredible Christmas will illuminate the Hollywood Tower Hotel once more and Mickey’s Christmas Big Band will get guests swinging with lots of new costumes.

Mickey also appears at Discoveryland Theatre, inviting audiences to a musical and visual journey through the Disney classics – in 4D! Donald Duck will conduct a lively concert. Mickey’s Philharmagic will wow guests at Disneyland Paris from October 2018.

" alt="" width="900" height="600" />

Disneyland Paris has been pursuing a massive renovation programme and modernising its top attractions since 2015. After Big Thunder Mountain, Star Tours: the Adventure Continues and Pirates of the Caribbean, the iconic Phantom Manor is now undergoing major refurbishment. New details of the history of Ravenswood Manor have been uncovered and are to be depicted through new special effects and scenery. It is scheduled to re-open in October. In addition to these key attractions, further renovation work will continue through the years, including Sleeping Beauty Castle and Mark Twain’s steamboat.

The guest experience is also being improved in our restaurants – with new dishes being added all the time. Following its success in 2017, the Rendez-Vous Gourmand de Disneyland Paris returns with new culinary experiences and Colonel Hathi’s Pizza Outpost will soon offer a new dining concept.

" alt="" width="900" height="600" />

The Disneyland Paris strategy is all about creativity and innovation – offering guests an ever more amazing experience and unforgettable memories.

Disneyland Paris is the number one tourist destination in Europe, with two theme parks (Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios), seven Disney themed hotels offering 5,800 guest rooms (plus a further 2,700 guest rooms from Partner and Associate Hotels), two full-service convention centres and a 27-hole golf course. Disneyland Paris is also home to one of the biggest entertainment centres in the Ile-de-France: Disney Village. Themed restaurants, stores and a multiplex cinema are grouped together in an area covering 30,000 m². The tourist destination boasts 59 attractions, 63 stores and 55 restaurants.

90 DAYS 100% MICKEY #Mickey90

He made his very first appearance on 18 November 1928, and the irrepressible Mickey Mouse is all set to celebrate an incredible birthday. To mark this great occasion, Disneyland Paris has a whole programme of special events and entertainment called the “Mickey 90 Mouse Party”.

90 days to celebrate Mickey with the magic of Disney Parks

Timeless, transgenerational, iconic – Mickey is the one that started all. He’s always been the one that guests of all ages come to see at Disneyland Paris – “going to Mickey’s place”, as they put it so well, therefore it was only natural that the most famous mouse in animation history would celebrate at “his place” with a special programme that will put the light on him like never before.

" alt="" width="426" height="411" />

1 October 2018 will kick off 90 days of celebrations. This year, Halloween and Christmas seasons will celebrate Mickey with a very festive agenda. Mickey will be appearing with a brand new float for the Halloween cavalcade from 1 October to 4 November 2018. “Mickey’s Illusion Manor” will celebrate 90 years of fun, and reveal his mischievous side! Apparitions and disappearances await… Let yourself be carried away into the mysterious world of illusions, as he performs his Halloween prankster tricks from the steps of his manor house!

When our Disney Parks put on their winter gear from 10 November 2018 to 6 January 2019, Mickey will surprise you with a fun-filled show and you will get to see him playing the drums. “Mickey’s Christmas Big Band” includes everybody’s favourite Christmas songs in a live show featuring singers, musicians and Disney Characters. But that’s not all: you’ll also discover a special surprise for Mickey on the stage at Production Courtyard at Walt Disney Studios Park.

We also announce the opening of a unique attraction in Europe: “Mickey and his PhilharMagique Orchestra”. This new 3D experience opens at the Discoveryland Theatre on 1 October 2018. Mickey and Donald take you on a big adventure through Disney classics like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. The music will blow you away!

As for the decorations – amazing sweet surprises will be popping up in the enchanted kingdom: huge birthday cakes bursting with colours will adorn the five lands of the Disneyland Park. And there will be an even more special date with unique surprises on the actual day of Mickey’s Birthday, on November 18 2018! So, are you ready to party with Mickey at Disneyland Paris?

On Friday June 29, four top DJs took to the stage in Walt Disney Studios Park to spin classic mixes and new hits alike: Belgium’s Henri PFR, the French phenomenon Klingandeand the legendary Bob Sinclar (Love Generation and World, Hold On). Crowds danced the night away while amazing special effects were projected on the Hollywood Tower Hotel attraction. The evening closed out with the German superstar Robin Schulz (Sugar andOK) and a surprise visit from two of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Star-Lord and Gamora.

For the first time ever Electroland continued into a second night, starting with the British saxophonist Lovely Laura and her DJ husband Ben Santiago.  They were followed by Switzerland’s Mosimann, Holland’s Afrojack and finally superstar duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike.

Fans of The Avengers were even treated to an unexpected appearance on stage from Loki and his brother Thor.

“It was absolutely amazing. It was our first time in a Disney park. I never went as a child, so I was excited. So playing here was just a whole experience. A dream come true,” stated the artists Lovely Laura & Ben Santiago.

“This is a very cool set up to play. The backdrop with the Tower of Terror, the Hulk (…) It looks great, it’s insane. It’s fun and it’s an excuse to go to a carnival and have a great party.  So I love the concept. It’s genius. It’s Disney madness,” stated DJs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Disney Expands Environmental Commitment By Reducing Plastic Waste

The Walt Disney Company’s commitment to environmental stewardship goes back to our founding more than 60 years ago. Walt himself said that “conservation isn’t just the business of a few people. It’s a matter that concerns all of us.” We’ve taken that message to heart and act on our commitment in big and small ways around the world.

In fact, since 1995, the Disney Conservation Fund has directed more than $70 million to reverse the decline of wildlife around the world. We’ve also reduced our net greenhouse gas emissions by 41 percent in 2017 and diverted nearly 50 percent of waste from landfills and incineration in 2017, making significant progress on our long-term goal of attaining a net zero greenhouse gas emissions and zero waste, while conserving water resources.

Today, we’re sharing another important step in our journey of environmental stewardship. By mid-2019, The Walt Disney Company will eliminate single-use plastic straws and plastic stirrers at all owned and operated locations across the globe, amounting to a reduction of more than 175 million straws and 13 million stirrers annually.

In addition, over the next few years we’re transitioning to refillable in-room amenities in our hotels and on our cruise ships, reducing plastics in guest rooms by 80 percent. We will also reduce the number of plastic shopping bags in our owned and operated parks and on our cruise line, offering guests the option to purchase reusable bags at a nominal price. Finally, we will complete our work to eliminate polystyrene cups across our global owned and operated business. These steps are part of our long-term effort to reduce single-use plastics, and we will continue recycling and responsibly disposing single-use waste that cannot be eliminated.

“Eliminating plastic straws and other plastic items are meaningful steps in our long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Consumer Products. “These new global efforts help reduce our environmental footprint, and advance our long-term sustainability goals.

Looking ahead, you can expect us to continue making progress on this and the rest of our long-term sustainability goals. To learn more about Disney’s commitment to the environment, visit www.thewaltdisneycompany.com/environment.
